There will be 4 people, including myself, and you'll only have to have seen a good amount/one third of the films or higher, because I'm a film snob and I've seen all but 3 films on this list. We will rank these films until they reach the Final 8, where the rankers will submit a list of remaining films in order of best to worst. In the end, each person will be responsible for 2 write-ups. Also, there will be 2 idols per person, because the majority of these movies are amazing, so there will be an additional idol to make it interesting.

The movies were picked going down the line of Best Picture winners. Including all of them would've made the list too large, and some aren't well-known films, so certain pictures were left off. Fixed Chicago, added All About Eve.

Only redeemable part about this movie is Diane Keaton's performance. If I wanted to watch Woody Allen jerk himself off for 90 minutes, I'd just ask him to adopt me. This is one of those movies that makes sense as a Best Picture winner in 1977, but now it's 2015 and you're just like, "Wait, Star Wars lost to this trainwreck?"

56. FORREST GUMP - There are, in my mind, four films that could have equally and comfortably been classified as the worst Best Picture winner of the past 50ish years. This one edges the rest at the finish line because there were not one, but two worthy films that year that should have one, compared to one for the others. The first, The Shawshank Redemption, is only the #1 movie on IMDB, a beloved film that is probably the best Stephen King story ever made into a movie. The other was a little film called Pulp Fiction. Now, I know you're all a bunch of snot nosed kids who probably can't appreciate just how transgressive and influential a movie Pulp Fiction was. It's your generation's Citizen Kane. The same way Kane seemed boring to my generation because all of the innovative things it did had been appropriated into the everyday movie lexicon, so too has Pulp been copied multiple times, poorly, so that its DNA exists in most movies that come out today. Forrest Gump was an insulting movie, which basically gave the moral that being mentally retarded was a blissful existence and would get you some wacky adventures. The special effects were impressive, and Tom Hanks avoided going full retard, but the rest of it is puerile pop schlock.
