Am I still going next? In that case: 37. The Last Emperor - writeup later Lex will get cuts 36/35, and then I'll take 34 to make up for it.

36. American Beauty - The movie just doesn't hold up anymore. Now, it's one thing if you're saying that about a movie that came out 40 years ago. But 15? Sorry, man.

34. The English Patient. Good but nothing special, and it beat Fargo. This is strictly personal.

34 Lord of the Rings: Return of the King - Controversial cut maybe? Okay so if you don't like the LOTR trilogy you are inhuman scum. That being said, I want to judge this solely based on Return of the King and not the trilogy as a whole, and I really think RotK is the weakest of the trilogy. I'm pretty sure it won solely as a way of retroactively honoring the trilogy as a whole since neither of the first two won Best Picture but part of me maybe thinks that RotK itself isn't too deserving of Best Picture. That being said, I love this movie and I love the fact that something so un-Oscar won the Best Picture Oscar but I feel like it's time for this one to go, unless one of y'all has something to say about that

Part of why RotK won is because of the three-year release part, so the hype for the finale was insanely high. If this was Fellowship, I'd idol it. This isn't as strong of a film as others here but it's easily one of my favorite movies on the list. It's rare that a popcorn flick is also so emotional, dramatic, and powerful, and that it appeals to casual moviegoers and hardcore movie critics. Very few films on the list can pull that off.

33. 12 Years A Slave - Look, slavery sucked. As a Black man, you don't have to convince me of that. But does the subject have to be so...dour? It's hard for me to think about this film on its own and not compare it to Django Unchained, which did just as good a job at showing just how dehumanizing slavery was but without the black cloud of doom over it. It's a well made film, but it has no entertainment value. It's a movie you'll only watch once. I think the great movies require a rewatchability factor to truly be great.

Sorry, my bad. 32: Slumdog Millionaire - I don't really want to cut this because I love this movie but I also don't want to cut any of the movies I haven't seen. Out of the movies left that I have seen, this one is probably the weakest, so I kind of have to do this. By Best Picture standards, Slumdog Millionaire is really thrilling and very unique but I think my biggest problem here is the relatively average acting as well as some of it being just a little bit cheesy at times. As an Indian, I was pretty thrilled when this movie won Best Picture but there are a lot of unfortunate Bollywood tropes that this movie has that have been grating me for years (although this movie isn't really considered Bollywood). Still really glad that it won, though, because it is arguably one of the most entertaining Best Pictures ever
